Modern web browsers are no longer just document renderers—with the Web Audio API, they function as full-fledged Digital Signal Processing (DSP) workstations capable of low-latency sound synthesis and real-time frequency spectrum analysis.
#1. The AudioContext Graph Architecture
At the core of browser signal synthesis is the AudioContext node graph. By connecting OscillatorNodes through BiquadFilterNodes to gain nodes and destination speakers, we achieve real-time parametric filtering and tone shaping.
Treating audio nodes as reactive graph state bridges the physical world of signals with modern component-driven frontends.
#2. Exporting 16-Bit PCM WAV Audio Files
To allow visitors to export synthesized synth tones as playable files, we construct a 44-byte RIFF/WAV header buffer in memory, convert 32-bit float audio samples into signed 16-bit PCM integers, and deliver an inline Blob download.
- BiquadFilterNode configuration for Sub-Bass (60Hz) to Treble (12kHz)
- Float32Array to Int16Array PCM sample encoding
- Canvas requestAnimationFrame FFT spectrum rendering
